Japan American Society of Greater Philadelphia

The grant is for community enrichment and conservation project for the community and visitors to Parkside neighborhood in West Fairmount Park.  Materials purchased with this grant will be 50 cherry trees (four different cultivars). JASGP is partnering with Tree Philly, who will supply all tools and labor for the tree planting. JASGP’s goal of the grant is to re-activate the cherry tree planning tradition.   

Wabi Sabi Grant

The Neighborhood Gardens Trust (NGT)

The grant is for a complete garden restoration in the Squirrel Hill/Southwest Philadelphia neighborhood.  The grant will provide for tree pruning and the purchase of 2 garden benches, soil, and plant material.  The aim is to provide a transformative renovation of a 35-year-old, existing garden.  Excavating and re-laying a new path with proper drainage will improve safety and accessibility for all ages and abilities thus making it an inclusive space for community engagement and education.
